Sieg Stays
Steady to Finish 23rd at Louden
Shane Sieg drove the Green Light Racing No. 07 Auto-Air Colors/Lucas Oil
Chevrolet to a 23rd-place finish in the Sylvania 200 NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series race Saturday at the New Hampshire International Speedway.
Sieg stayed out of trouble on a very slick surface in the early stages and
kept a steady pace to the finish.
“We’re pretty happy
with our day today,” Sieg said. “It’s not that we’re happy about the
finish, because 23rd really isn’t all that great. But we went out, stayed
out of trouble, and learned a lot. The guys made a lot of adjustments
that really helped us out.
“When you don’t run
particularly well, it makes you appreciate the times the truck was really
good. At Milwaukee, the truck was so good it basically drove itself. We
were hoping we would get that feel here this weekend, but we just missed
it. But the guys never gave up and they worked their tails off all
weekend.”
While Sieg was able
to handle the slick conditions early in the race with no problems, the
final laps proved to be a challenge for him as the setting sun left very
little light.
“We could barely see
out there the final few laps,” Sieg said. “I could barely even see the
marks in the corners to tell me where to run. It was a real challenge. I
am really glad the race ended when it did because if we had to go to a
green-white-checkered, I don’t think any of us could have seen anything.”
Sieg and the No. 07
Auto-Air Colors/Lucas Oil Chevrolet return to action this Saturday in the
Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race is scheduled for a 10
P.M. Eastern start and will be televised live on Speed Channel. The race
will also be carried on select radio affiliates of the Motor Racing
Network and can be heard on NASCAR Radio 144 on XM Satellite Radio.
